In industry first, Betsafe launches Live Roulette on Apple TV

Television has become an even more ubiquitous part of our lives thanks to the push towards web connectivity for the hardware that provides us with our favourite movies and episodes, and one operator has capitalised on having that internet connection in the living room.

Online gambling operator Betsafe, a subsidiary of the Nordic betting operator Betsson AB, has launched what it claims is the first gambling app for the Apple TV platform.

Apple TV has already become a top player in the world of connected television, though it does have some restrictions — it cannot access all the apps available on the other Apple mobile devices just yet, although most creators are working hard to move that process along.

Which is why Betsafe’s Apple TV app has so much promise. The Live Roulette app eliminates the need for players to own a computer or smartphone, though users with an iPhone can invite up to 5 other players to enjoy a spin on the same screen. The app aims to bring a social element to a gambling experience that is usually undertaken alone.

Users can connect the Betsafe user account they already created on another platform for a seamless gambling experience, with no extra work.

Setting the standard

Betsson CEO Ulrik Bengtsson said that the new app would “most likely set the standard for the entire gaming industry forward.” Being the first one out the gate on this platform certainly gives the project plenty of visibility.

Betsson Malta chief commercial officer Jesper Svensson said the app reflected the company’s constant search for opportunities to improve the customer experience, bringing their product to their customers wherever they are and on whichever platform they prefer.

Svensson went on to note that there was no real gambling app product on the Apple TV app store as yet, and that Betsson was creating demand by introducing a new way for players to access real-money gambling, while setting the industry standard at the same time.

Although the new app is only available to players in Sweden at the moment, Betsafe hopes to roll it out to other European markets soon.
