It’s always heart-warming to see a person or in this case, a company, contribute towards making its local community a better place. Everybody likes a feel-good-story.
Microgaming is offering bursaries to promising students to help them continue their studies in an effort to improve the long-term relations between the Isle of Man-based developer and its residents.
The Microgaming bursary will cover accomodation fees and other essential living costs up to a value £6,000 per year.
The beneficiaries will be carefully handpicked based on their results, skills and overall talent - which they’ve ideally demonstrated aplenty.
’The youth of the Island are our future — this generation will shape the growth of the Isle of Man. It is essential that we provide them with the tools to reach their potential and that’s why we created this initiative.’
’We are passionate about corporate social responsibility and are proud of the contribution we make to the Island. We are well-known for providing support to local charities, health projects, events and sports clubs; our new education initiative complements the work we already do on the island. We want to see the Isle of Man thrive,’ said Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming.
The bursaries will be administered and paid out by the IOM DEC (Department of Education and Children).
This package is only available to students who have qualified for a DEC maintenance grant and have been accepted to an approved undergraduate degree course.
Students of all specialities can apply - it isn’t solely aimed at students studying for a business or a technology-related degree.
’This initiative from Microgaming will be life-changing to several local students. With A-level results announced this week, I encourage anyone who believes they meet the bursary criteria to apply now,’ said John Gill, Head of Legal and Administrative Services at the DEC.
