Android is Google's operating system for smartphones. It's the world's most common mobile OS these days, so it's understandable developers are getting busy on their Android platforms and games. Online casino operators have begun adapting their platforms and business models, and more and more is happening in this exciting new field. Keep up to date and have a look at our news and reviews, and by all means check back with us: A lot is going to change.
Google bought out Android in 2005. Back then there was no imagining just how popular and successful their operating system would get, but it spread very quickly. It's long beaten Apple's iOS because it's free and relatively open, and lots of phone producers have made it the standard for their devices. Developing a successful platform for Android promises huge revenues, so there's no wonder developers are already racing each other on the way there.
Mobile gaming takes it all to an entirely new level. After the Internet revolutionized the industry in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it's now playing and gambling on your phone or tablet computer that everybody looks to as the next big thing. Nothing is sure yet. The European Union for instance is still working on legislation that would fit the new situation. Financial estimates see total wagered money in mobile gambling to go beyond $48bn by 2015, so the projections for the new market are extremely promising. Even with all the uncertainty at the moment there's reason for excitement.
