Malayisian Police Unnecessarily Destroy Hundreds of Computers

During their 2013 anti-online gaming operations, Malaysian police confiscated 752 computers which had been used for illegal online gambling.

Now, with the intention of permanently taking the computer equipment out of the market forever, the police have smashed all the machines, as if they were some kind of evil artificial intelligence-based illegal gambling operators with a mind of their own!

It does seem a bit weird that removing computers from the hands of criminals isn’t sufficient, and all the usable technology has to be destroyed.

Online gambling is viewed as a serious problem in Malaysia and these computers were seized in the course of 65 separate raids on internet cafes and other illegal gaming centres.

Be that as it may, it would have been smarter to have made the computers available to equip schools that needed them or to have donated them to an orphanage or to some other worthy cause, instead of just destroying them and creating a pile of useless trash in the process, we think you’ll agree!
