NetEnt’s Xmas Give Away: Creature from the Black Lagoon

NetEnt’s Xmas Give Away: Creature from the Black Lagoon

The start of the Christmas season is just a week away and yet NetEnt are about to make one of their most controversial (given the timing) game releases ever, with the Creature from the Black Lagoon video slot launch, about to premiere at Vera&John’s.

Most software developers keep pushing every year for a Christmas-inspired game based on recurrent seasonal themes (but let’s face it, Scrooge and Rudolph are not our cup of tea anymore); however NetEnt decided to spice things up and to bring a horror story back to life with this game release.

The Race for the Black Lagoon Slot

After doing a little research we found out that IGT had previously released a similar game back in 2006, this one only available for land-based casinos, which didn’t transition towards the online world.

NetEnt’s version, set for release mid-month, promises a more cinematographic approach, with 3D sequences and fully animated bonuses where players get to shoot the creature with a speargun, earning coins with each deadly shot.

Heavenly Match: Movies + Video Slots

Players may wonder, why on earth would NetEnt make a game inspired on an old horror movie?

The answer may surprise you, but Universal Studios are soon to launch a remake of this 1950s film, rewritten by Stephen King’s protégé, Dave Kajganich, and expected to be released in 2014.

NetEnt is clearly taking a stand on making the gaming world as competitive as the movie industry.

We still hold no official dates on this game release, except that it’ll be launched by mid-December this year, and will hit NetEnt’s largest licensees such as Vera&John.
