New US Gambling Policies

New US Gambling Policies

On Monday, December 17th of 2012, the New Jersey Assembly passed the A2578 bill to authorize Atlantic City based casinos to offer internet gambling to New Jersey residents. With more than 50% of votes, the bill has to get approved by the Senate.

Las Vegas casinos are looking forward to the approval of this law, since they have been coping with downward-spiraling profits during the last few years, with December of this year being their worst month in the past 34 years.

According to the A2578 bill, only games offered in Atlantic City casinos can be offered online, these include the following:

Poker, roulette, baccarat, blackjack, craps, big six wheel, slot machines, mini-baccarat, red dog, pai gow, and sic bo; any variations or composites of such games, provided that such variations or composites, and any above listed game or variation or composite of such game to be offered through Internet wagering…

Since 2011 the US Department of Justice has pointed out that online gaming should no longer be considered a violation of the Wire Act. However, regulations are still pending the approval of both the local governments and the Senate.
