The Austrian gambling supplier Novomatic has taken over the two Dutch companies JVH Exploitatie and JHV Gaming Products. Both will go on as part of Austrian Gaming Industries GmbH, which itself is a subsidiary of Novomatic.
Novomatic over the past years has striven to push both its vertical and horizontal integration as far as possible. This means nothing less than an attempt to control as much of the production and life cycle of their products as possible. They’re now covering most steps in the making of gambling machines, programs, games and other supplies. For instance, they produce a stationary console for land-based casinos: Every part is produced at a facility owned by the parent company, from the software right down to the console’s casing.
Novomatic’s Head of Corporate Communications, Hannes Reichmann, stated that JVH Gaming Products’ range was already exported into Germany, while JVH Exploitatie is the dominant operator of slot machines at various locations in the Netherlands. The acquisitions strengthen Novomatic’s position in the German market, where they’re already successfully operating subsidiaries Löwen and Crown.
The takeovers are part of a larger strategic program of Novomatic to solidify their position in Europe and at the same time gather strength to be able to target large developing markets in Latin America and Asia.
Novomatic was founded in 1980 and today has subsidiaries and offices in 43 countries. They export high-tech gaming supplies to over 80 countries, and their turnover reached 3.2bn in 2012. They employ roughly 19,000 people.
