Social Gaming Association fully operational

Much has been said during the last years on regulating the social gaming industry, but it isn’t until now that the Social Gaming Industry (or SGA) has been officially launched in November 2012.

The SGA’s aim is to provide a platform for discussing and unifying values within the industry, on a good governance basis of accountability, consensus, transparency and responsive measures towards the general audience, thus promoting responsible gaming and also support for debating issues concerning this industry.

Memberships will be divided into 2 main categories (free and paid), and 5 member classes, from startups, game publishers, government and policy makers, to established suppliers. One of the main valuable add-ons to an SGA accreditation will be for the registered game publishers, which will have a compliance kite-mark, providing confidence on the publisher acting in a socially responsible way, and making their games meet standards set by the industry.

The role of the SGA will be also to defend the social gaming industry, as the Director Stuart Tilly stated: “the SGA will also provide a unified voice from the industry to address the concerns of industry detractors and pro-actively educate policy makers concerned about social gaming.”
