Full Tilt Poker has announced their new site aimed at the European market, fulltiltpoker.eu, will be launched in February. The decision came right after its competitor PokerStars had released pokerstars.eu, also aimed at EU players.
Players from Sweden, Finland, Netherlands and Germany, among many others, are already using pokerstars.eu, and the upcoming option from Full Tilt represents a smart move that will balance the market. Both the companies and the players prefer the European Economic Area (EEA) because there are no tax impositions on winnings for neither of them.
The competition has grown fierce among online poker companies to enter EU regulated markets. Scandinavian countries, where the number of online poker players has recently increased, are especially lucrative.
In recent months, the Swedish government has started auditing local players’ historical gambling data on sites outside the EEA on the grounds of unfair gambling. Players are able to once bet safely thanks to pokerstars.eu and the soon-to-be launched fulltiltpoker.eu.
