Geisha Story
In a Nutshell
Geisha Story is a pretty little slot from Isle of Man-based developer Playtech.
As its name would suggest, it’s Japanese-themed and has a maximum jackpot of a whopping 1,000,000 coins – certainly nothing to commit seppuku about! Read on and all will be revealed…
A Closer Look
Geisha Story is a 5-reel, 15-Payline online slot with a volatility rating of ‘high’, meaning that you may have to wait a long time for payouts, but then again those payouts tend to be on the large side.
The symbols are in keeping with the theme and include koi carp, bonsai trees, wooden shoes and cherry blossom.
The Wild symbol is a young man in a kimono; if this handsome would-be samurai should happen to pop up, he’ll substitute for any other symbol except the Scatter and bonus symbols as is standard, and if you get 5 Wilds on one payline it’ll payout a massive 10,000 coins. Speaking of which…
…You can play from a minimum of 0.01 coins up to a maximum of 5.00 so there’s a lot of flexibility there, and there is a bet max function (up to a maximum of 150 coins).
There is also a paylines selector for choosing between 1 and 15 paylines, as with most online slots. What sets Geisha story apart then?
Well, apart from the dinky little sound effects which include the soothing sounds of Japanese gongs, harps and tweeting birds, the free spin and bonus features are almost worthy of a haiku unto themselves…
Free Spin/Bonus Features
The free spin and bonus features are one and the same. If you get 2 Geisha Girl symbols anywhere on reels 1 and 5 at the same time (she doesn’t appear anywhere else) you’ll be taken to the bonus screen immediately.
There, the Geisha will present you with 6 fans, and you have to choose one of them.
Choose carefully, however, as there’s a great variety of possible prizes, with as many as 20 free spins and multipliers as high as x10. Which is nice.
Special Features
There is an additional Mr Miyagi-type figure who appears as a scatter on any reel and can lead to some very high payouts indeed, grasshopper.
Three symbols gives a x5 your total bet as a payout, 4 symbols multiplies it by 10, but 5 old men give a a whopping x50 multiplier, or a maximum of 7,500 coins (the second highest payout after the 5 Wilds as noted above).
All good things come to those who wait, however, and that’s certainly the case with the final part of this review.
For we neglected to mention the symbol that can unlock the jackpot. This is slightly off-theme, as it is a dollar ball, but you won’t care too much about that.
In fact if you got all 5 you would probably dash around like a kamikaze as that nets you the jackpot, which at the max bet level is 1,000,000 coins!
Lower numbers aren’t anything like as spectacular, though, with 4 dollar balls netting you 1% of the jackpot - which is still nothing to sniff some blowfish powder at!
