Skrill Moneybookers has finished the acquisition of paysafecard.com by Wertkarten AG, an Austrian prepaid payments company. The deal will reinforce Skrill’s presence as one of the world’s safest payment options with low-cost deposit and withdrawal transactions.
Skrill is owned by Investcorp Technology Partners and is one of the most commonly used real-time payment platforms in major casino sites all over the world. This acquisition will reinforce the company’s position, increase the customer base and enhance payment possibilities on both B2B and B2C levels.
The company’s success is based on the security of the system, multiple payment services and strict anti-fraud measures. Just in 2012 the company processed over 55 million transactions.
Siegfried Heimgaertner, CEO of Skrill, commented on the purchase:
For both sides this is a strategically important acquisition and we are pleased it is now finalized. Paysafecard complements our current offering and strengthens our position in the key gaming and digital media markets verticals, establishing us as a provider of end-of-end transfer of stored value.
Due to the acquisition, the customers will now see a combined offer for end-to-end stored value payments, an increase in the number of available payment options and a total of 196 countries serviced worldwide. By adding Paysafe’s services for B2C, Skrill has allowed users to exchange cash at local sales outlets and pay online everywhere in the world.
Paysafecard CEO, Michael Mueller, applauded the consolidation of both companies’ business platforms on a worldwide scale by saying, We have great faith in Skrill’s entrepreneurial vision, and look forward to continuing to grow the business.
